At least two cisterns for holding water are also seen. Bathhouses, pools and even a church made life almost normal for the residents. A quarry helped with the upkeep of buildings and provided stone for additional construction. Storehouses were kept as full as possible when enemy troops were not actively seeking to overcome the Israelites.

Sitting on the western side of the Dead Sea, the Masada National Park area provides a view from any side that assails the senses. Horizons disappear in the haze of distance.
