The width of the range varies from as small as 6 miles in the east to 80 miles near the center. The highest peak is on the Pico de Aneto with an elevation of 11,168 feet. Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park - A popular place for off road tours in Spain and created in 1955, it is 25,280 acres around. The name of this park (Aigüestortes) means "winding waters" and describes the more than 200 bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, many of which originate with glaciers.

Cirque De Gavarnie - Located in France, among the many cirques (amphitheatre-like valley heads) in the Pyrenees the Cirque de Gavarnie is one of the most well known. Found in the Pyrenees National Park, it contains the Gavarnie falls, the highest waterfall of the region at 1,515 feet.


Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park - In 1997 this park was added to the Biosphere Reserve of Ordesa-Viñamala by UNESCO. There are many large forests filled with a variety of flowers, birds, mammals and reptiles, making it a great location for off road tours in Spain.
