A Visit To The Pyrenees

The Pyrenees is an awesome place. This mountain chain that forms the border between France and Spain is over 270 miles long. It runs from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean Sea. There are many amazing things found in these slopes.



There are forests, waterfalls, glaciers and spectacular scenery. It is an ideal place for a vacation. Many people take Pyrenees tours that allow them visit the Basques and the tiny country of Andorra. Pyrenees tours can take you through some of the most beautiful countryside in all of Europe.

The Pyrenees separate the Iberian Peninsula from the rest of Europe. Pyrenees tours take you through cities in Spain including Barcelona, Navarra, and Huesa. Some of the French cities that are part of the Pyrenees tours are Aude, Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrenees and Pyrenees-Atlantiques. Haute-Pyrenees and Pyrenees-Atlantiques are part of Pyrenees National Park. The Pyrenees are actually part of the Alps, the largest mountain system in Europe.

Pyrenees tours can take you to many wonderful places. The tours can include visits to Pico d'Aneto, Posets Peak and Mont Perdu, the three tallest peaks in the Pyrenees. It can also see sights like the 1,515 foot tall Gavaine waterfall, the Pyrenees' highest waterfall or some of the famous mineral springs like Les Escaldes, Ax-les-Themes, Rennes-les-Bains and Campagne-sur-Aude.



A journey through the Pyrenees is not for everyone. Parts of it can be done fairly easily by rail or road, but some of the most spectacular parts most be accessed on foot or from the air. Still it is worth any cost to experiences all the high passes, the rushing waters of the gaves or the semi-circular cliffs called cirque. The glaciers in the Central and Western Pyrenees are also an amazing sight.
